Tush Tags

Tush tags, the tags sewn into the bottoms of Beanies, aren't as important as hang tags. Because tush tags are made of felt, they are not subject to damage like the paper hang tags. Plus, it's much more difficult to switch tush tags than hang tags. The tush tag, along with the hang tag, can help you determine when a beanie was actually made. Beanie Babies have the following five generations of tush tags, plus a Canadian tag:

First-generation tags are all black and only include the date manufactured and the copyright information.

Second-generation tags were issued in red ink and added the Ty heart.

Third-generation tags, also in red ink, added "The Beanie Babies Collection" and the name of the Beanie.

Fourth- and fifth-generation tush tags have only slight changes. Fourth-generation tags add a star next to the Ty heart, and fifth-generation tags add a registered trademark next to the Beanie name.

Canadian tush tags are written in both English and French.

If you look closely, you might notice slight variations on the tush tag of Princess the Bear. Princess can be found with "P.V.C. Pellets" and "P.E. Pellets" on the tag.
